The Kyaka II Refugee-Led Organizations Network (KRLON) has officially transitioned to new leadership following the formal handover of responsibilities from the outgoing Executive Committee to the newly appointed KRLON Leadership Committee 2026.
The handover ceremony, held on 2 September 2026, marked an important moment of leadership transition and continuity for KRLON. The outgoing leadership, led by CEO Mr. Thembo Esreal, formally transferred responsibilities to the new leadership team headed by CEO Mr. Eliya Mutabazi.
Appreciation to the Outgoing Leadership
KRLON expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Thembo Esreal and his team for their dedicated service, leadership, and contributions to the growth and development of the network during their 2 years term from June 2024 to August 2026.
Under their leadership, the Executive Committee worked to strengthen collaboration among refugee-led organizations, represent the interests of member organizations, and advance community-driven initiatives within Kyaka II Refugee Settlement.
In recognition of their commitment and valuable service, members of the outgoing Executive Committee received certificates of appreciation during the handover.
Mr. Thembo Esreal and the outgoing team also expressed their willingness to continue supporting the new leadership through guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. Their commitment to ensuring a smooth transition demonstrates the importance of continuity, unity, and collective responsibility within KRLON.
Welcoming the New KRLON Leadership
KRLON warmly welcomes CEO Mr. Eliya Mutabazi and his team as they take on the responsibility of leading the network.
The new leadership is committed to providing strong, accountable, inclusive, and collaborative leadership, while working collectively to advance the development and growth of KRLON and serve the interests of its member organizations.
The new team will build on the work and achievements of previous leadership while seeking new opportunities to strengthen refugee-led leadership, partnerships, organizational capacity, advocacy, and community-driven development in Kyaka II.

KRLON calls upon its partners, donors, humanitarian actors, development organizations, government stakeholders, and other community partners to welcome and work collaboratively with the new KRLON leadership.
Strong partnerships remain essential to ensuring that refugee-led organizations are meaningfully involved in decisions that affect their communities and are supported to contribute effectively to sustainable development and humanitarian response.
KRLON remains committed to strengthening the voice, participation, and leadership of refugee-led organizations and ensuring that member organizations have opportunities to collaborate, learn, and contribute to the development of Kyaka II.
As this new chapter begins, KRLON wishes Mr. Eliya Mutabazi and his team wisdom, unity, dedication, and success as they take on this important responsibility.
