KRLON is proud to introduce Mr. Eliya Mutabazi as our new Chief Executive Officer, following the leadership handover ceremony held on 2 September 2026.
A refugee leader based in Itambabiniga, Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, Eliya brings over six years of proven leadership in humanitarian and community development work. He previously served as KRLON’s General Secretary, coordinating communication among member organizations and representing the collective voice of refugee-led organizations to partners, government structures, and humanitarian actors.
Alongside his work with KRLON, Eliya has served as Program Director at RESDA AFRICA, directing multi-sector programs spanning education, livelihoods, climate-smart agriculture, and protection. Among his key achievements is the Tower Gardening Project, which trained over 8,300 farmers and supported thousands of malnourished individuals with nutrient-rich crops, along with vocational and women’s empowerment initiatives reaching hundreds of beneficiaries across Kyaka II.
Eliya is also Co-Chair of the Uganda Catalyst Champions network and has been recognized as a Male Champion for Uganda for his advocacy on gender equity and community leadership.
As CEO, Eliya is committed to strengthening KRLON’s governance structures, expanding resource mobilization, and deepening advocacy for refugee-led organizations and communities across Kyaka II.
