We are proud to share that KRLON – Kyaka II Refugee-led Organizations Network successfully conducted a two-day Peace Ambassadors Training on 7–8 January 2026 under the project “A Voice of Dignity and Inclusion.”

The training brought together committed community members from both refugee and host communities. Participants were equipped with practical knowledge, leadership skills, and a shared vision to promote peace, unity, and social cohesion within Kyaka II Refugee Settlement and the surrounding host communities.

This initiative strengthens community-based approaches to peacebuilding by empowering trusted local leaders to become active champions of dialogue, inclusion, and conflict prevention.

Strong Partnerships for Stronger Communities

We sincerely thank RELON Uganda for the subgrant support, made possible through generous funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to:

  • OPM – Office of the Prime Minister
  • UNHCR – The UN Refugee Agency
  • NRC – Norwegian Refugee Council
  • And all partners who supported and guided this important activity.

Your collaboration continues to make grassroots peacebuilding possible.

Peace Ambassadors Already Making Impact

Since completing the training, Peace Ambassadors are actively serving their communities. They are:

  • Profiling and referring community cases appropriately
  • Working hand-in-hand with Local Councils and RWCs
  • Conducting community awareness sessions
  • Engaging youth groups, including football players, in peace education

Their outreach efforts are expanding rapidly, strengthening our belief that they will reach even more people and contribute significantly to lasting stability in the settlement and host areas.

We strongly believe that empowering Peace Ambassadors is a durable solution to security challenges. By investing in community leadership, we are building a foundation for sustainable peace.

Together, we raise voices for dignity. Together, we build lasting peace.
