ABOUT US:

Mutu Kama Na Wewe association of people with disabilities and people

with special needs is a community-based organization of both refugees’

nationals that began in November 2018 as a saving group founded by

POLEPOLE Kigombo a refugee with physical disability. It was established

with intention of supporting people with disabilities and persons with

special needs in improving households’ incomes, promoting social and

combating discrimination in gender, disability and origin. The

organization has since evolved into a recognition of people with

disability advocating for disability inclusion. Mutu Kama Na Wewe

currently engages in peer mentoring, participatory innovation and co-

design, making materials for making assistive devices e.g. Crutches,

maintenance and repairing of the assistive devices e.g. Crutches and

Wheel chairs, Inclusive Access to services, community Empowerment

and Advocacy, Capacity Strengthening for Inclusion, psychosocial

Support, community awareness initiatives and advocacy for

humanitarian services within the settlement.

Our Vision: A world where everyone has equal opportunities, access to

resources, and lives with dignity, free from discrimination.

Our Mission: Promoting disability inclusion and fighting against poverty

through unity, work, and development.

  • Disability Inclusion and Protection Program
  • Livelihood Program- Community-Based Rehabilitation Program
  • Gender Empowerment
  • Financial literacy and also sensitize saving group on saving methodology
  • Participatory Innovation and Co-design
  • Inclusive Access to Services
  • Community Empowerment and Advocacy
  • Capacity Strengthening for inclusion

CHALLENGES :

  • Mutukama na wewe is struggling with various challenges however much proper planning has been done. Commonly encountered challenges have been outlined below; o Inadequate finances to suit people’s expectations towards association. o Limited managerial skills and empowerment. . o Insufficient resources such as materials for hand craftsmanship. o Limited access to information that limits us from utilizing existing opportunities. However, to overcome the above mentioned challenges, we seek for support in terms of donation, empowerment and capacity building from both the Government and Non-government organization. Thus, we pray to be prioritized.

NEEDS:

  • o To increase on our network so that we can generate more support from government and non-government organizations and well-wishers. o Mobilizing and sensitizing communities about our trending projects such as craftsmanship, to mention but a few. o Managerial skills training among our staff/executives. This target to impact our projects sustainability and future development progress.
